About Taawon US
What is Taawon US?
Friends of Taawon Inc. (operating as Taawon US) is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects U.S. donors to long-standing, locally led humanitarian and development programs serving Palestinians.
Taawon US is the U.S. partner of Taawon (Welfare Association) — one of the largest and most established Palestinian nonprofit organizations.
Is Taawon US politically affiliated?
No. Taawon US is non-political, non-partisan, and non-religious.
Our work focuses exclusively on civilian wellbeing, recovery, and opportunity, including humanitarian care, rehabilitation, and education for children, families, and communities based on need.
What makes Taawon different?
Taawon’s distinction is its 40+ years of experience, on-the-ground presence, and continuity of care.
Programs are implemented directly by Taawon’s professional teams in the communities they serve, in partnership with a network of 200+ trusted institutions. This enables Taawon to:
- Operate at scale in complex environments (including Gaza)
- Deliver multi-year programs, not one-time aid
- Maintain continuity of care for children, families, patients, and students over time
- Adapt responsibly as conditions change while remaining accountable to communities and donors
Taawon also operates one of the largest direct orphan care networks in Gaza, supporting 20,000+ children from early childhood through adulthood.
Where We Work
