Take the challenge.
Be the light for an orphaned child in Gaza.
It’s the most natural thing in the world. You wake up, lace up your sneakers, head out the door, and you’re flying. For many of us, exercize and sports are integral parts of our daily routines.
But for Palestinians, movement is heavily restricted. In Gaza, a stroll down the block or a swim in the sea can prove deadly. The devastation has especially impacted children. Over 50,000 children have lost one or both of their parents, creating an unprecedented crisis in orphan care.
At Taawon US, we are creating the opportunity for everyone to turn their solidarity into action. With our Move for Palestine campaign, you can set a personal movement challenge and receive sponsorships from your community while you work towards your target.
We want everyone to be able to participate, no matter the sport or ability level. Whether you are into running, swimming, walking, hiking, or biking, you can set a personal challenge that you think will motivate your friends and family to give.
We have also set a couple challenges that hold special meaning:
41 for Gaza
41 kilometers or miles across the month, the length of the Gaza Strip, north to south. Around 1.5 km a day.
365 Challenge
One kilometer for every square kilometer of Gaza, home to more than two million people. Perfect for teams or endurance athletes.

What is NOOR?
NOOR is Taawon’s long-term orphan care program supporting 20,000+ children in Gaza who have lost one or both parents. One of the largest and most comprehensive programs of its kind, NOOR provides sustained, holistic care from early childhood through age 18.
The program provides comprehensive support, including basic necessities, healthcare, education, mental health and psychosocial care, and support for families and caregivers. NOOR is more than a response to an immediate crisis. It is a long-term commitment to helping children grow with dignity, stability, and hope — and ensuring that loss does not define their future.
NOOR goes well beyond just a response to a crisis; it is a lasting commitment to safeguarding the dignity of Gaza's orphaned children and helping them to rebuild their futures.
In Arabic, noor means light. By taking on the Move for Palestine challenge, you can be the light for an orphan in their darkest moments.
